Hastings International Piano lines up Celebration Series

The new online concerts series The Celebration Series, which started in January with a concert from the 2018 Competition winner Roman Kosyakov, continues in February with a concert from the 2019 prizewinner Sylvia Jiang on Tuesday, February 9 at 7pm.

Her programme will be: Beethoven - Sonata Op. 31 No. 2; Prokofiev - Piano Sonata No. 2 in D Minor; Grieg - Nocturne from Lyric Pieces; and Liszt- “Faust” Paraphrase.

Tickets cost £5 and you can buy all five concerts, including January's concert from Roman Kosyakov, for the price of four.

Other pianists invited to give concerts during the series include Tzu-Yin Huang in the USA and Fumiya Koido in Japan. The finale concert will stream on May 11 with artist to be announced soon. All concerts are available to view until 31 May 2021.

In March 2020 the charity launched An Evening In With…weekly online series of short concerts to support the careers of their prizewinners during these difficult times and had paid them a performance fee.

The concerts were free to view, but viewers were and are still able to make a voluntary donation to Hastings International Piano Engagement Fund or join as a Friend.

The Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition has evolved from its earliest days as part of Hastings Music Festival to become an internationally renowned competition for young concert pianists from around the world, attracting 170 applicants in 2019 from numerous rounds of global auditions, 40 of which were invited to compete in Hastings. The next edition of the competition takes place in June 2021 in Hastings.

To support the growth of audiences and educational outreach opportunities, Hastings International Piano produced the inaugural Hastings International Piano Festival, which took place over two weeks in February and March 2020.
