Hastings Thrives is offering an online chance to let your song-writing imagination go wild.

“Hastings Thrives is offering some lucky Hastings young people, aged 11-16, the opportunity to let their imaginations run riot and create a song with local song-writing teacher Anna Page.

“We've teamed up with St Leonard's A Town Explores a Book as they roam through the wonderfully eccentric world of Edward Lear, who wrote The Owl and the Pussycat while in Hastings. And we will look at how musicians have created nonsense, fun and dream-like qualities in their work.

“This free course starts online on Tuesday, January 19 from 4.30-5.30pm. It's suitable for all abilities, very inclusive, and has some one-to-one time built in.

“Songs will create a sound installation at Warrior Square Station from April 1-18. We hope to fit in a professional recording studio visit in mid-March, depending on the Covid-19 situation. All participants will receive a free copy of Lear's book Nonsense Songs, Stories, Botany & Alphabets.
