Organisers hope weather is kind for ill-fated Angmering fête

TWO months after it was washed out by heavy rain, as yet another casualty of the dismal summer, the Angmering Community Fête is back, on Saturday.

Organisers are hoping that autumn’s weather will be kinder to their bumper programme of attractions lined up for Mayflower Park, off Mayflower Way, at the southern end of the Bramley Green housing estate.

Angmering’s MP Nick Herbert and Steve Mountain, chairman of Angmering Parish Council, will open the fête at 10.30am and fun for all the family continues for the next six hours.

There will be arena events throughout the day, with a gun dog demonstration by the Reedlands Retrievers, falconry displays by 1066 Birds of Prey, amazing acrobatic feats by the Sussex Tornados cheerleaders and martial arts by West Sussex Choi Kwang Do and a children’s fancy dress parade, which will be judged for prizes to be awarded.

Away from the arena, there will be numerous stalls and sideshows to visit, as well as funfair rides for children and, from 1-4pm, pony rides.

Angmering WI members will be serving refreshments in their marquee, including morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea and thirsty fête-goers can also visit the licensed bar on the site.

Free lucky programmes are now available at various village outlets, including Woodies News, Angmering Framing and Stitches and the parish council offices, and include a slip to entry the free prize draw, to be posted in the box at the control Gazebo at the fête.
