Talk will explore two great composers

Eastbourne Arts Circle will present '˜Lehár and Puccini: Tunesmiths Extraordinaire' with Robin Gregory at 3pm on Sunday, June 12, at the Birley Centre.

Soaring melody sung by real singers against a background of rich orchestration: that’s opera by Puccini. Precisely the same can be said of the operettas of Franz Lehár. So why do we hear so few of his works in this country? And what are we missing? Robin Gregory will answer these questions and more, using his extensive record collection to compare these great composers. Tickets (£13) on the door, from Tourist Information Centre or www.eastbourneartscircle.org.uk.
