1. Dylan Moran.

A spokesperson said: “He will offer his unique take on love, politics, misery and the everyday absurdities of life, all served with poetical panache.” Dylan Moran has been called the Oscar Wilde of stand-up for his famed style, which is full of deadpan jokes and crackpot lyricism.

2. East Grinstead Christmas Comedy Gala.

Rounding off the year, this staple of the festive season will be headlined by the hilarious Joe Wilkinson. An award-winning comedian, Joe’s distinct style and unusual wit has made him a firm favourite on 8 Out of 10 Cats, Him & Her, Live at the Electric and Taskmaster. More acts to be announced.

3. The Sex Pistols Experience.

The Sex Pistols Experience are the world’s number one professional tribute to one of the most outrageous and controversial bands of all time. They have toured extensively in the USA, Europe and Brazil. The live show is so convincing that the BBC, Sky TV, Channel4, Fox TV and the movie Who Killed Nancy? have all hired the band for re-enactments.

4. Molly Burch.

Presented by Neat Neat Neat. Sunday, December 2, £8, 7.30pm Komedia, 44-47 Gardner Street, Brighton, 0845 293 8480. With Andy Jenkins and River Whyless. This Austin singer-songwriter is quickly becoming one of rock music’s best voices. She burst onto the music scene in 2017 with her debut album Please Be Mine, a ten-track ode to unrequited romance that she wrote after studying Jazz Vocal Performance at the University of North Carolina in Asheville.

5. Mike Wilmot, Kelly Convey and Alan Carr.

This is a chance to see Alan Carr, one of the UK’s most popular comedians, host one of his first work-in-progress shows, alongside the ‘unsung hero of UK comedy’ Mike Wilmot and So You Think You’re Funny finalist Kelly Convey. They have recently returned to England from a fantastic run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

6. The Cajun Roosters.

December 5, 7.30pm, £12, Lewes Con Club, 39 High Street, Lewes, 01273 473076, lewesconclub.com. The Cajun Roosters are a five-piece band who specialise in the music of Southwest Louisiana. Their repertoire includes not just Cajun and Zydeco but also swamp blues, Louisiana rock ’n’ roll, Creole and New Orleans beats. They have also carved out a reputation as one of the most popular headline bands on the summer outdoor stage circuit, winning over big audiences all over Europe.

7. Madagascar The Musical.

December 4-8, various times, Theatre Royal Brighton, 0844 871 7650. Matt Terry, winner of 2016’s X-Factor, is playing Alex The Lion in the new stage adaptation of Madagascar The Musical. A spokesperson said: “Based on the smash DreamWorks animated film, Madagascar The Musical follows all of your favourite ‘crack-a-lackin’ friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on a journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.”

8. Katie Melua.

Thursday, December 6, 7pm, £21.50-£39.50, Brighton Dome, 01273 709709. Multi award-winning recording artist Katie Melua is currently on her extensive European tour for winter 2018. Her 13 UK dates include a gig at the Dome. Katie will be joined by a cast of superb musicians, as well as members of Gori Women’s Choir who featured on the silver-certified 2016 album In Winter. In Winter was recorded in Georgia, and received some of the best reviews of Katie’s career.

9. Christmas Crooners.

Thursday, December 6, 7.30pm, £18-£20, Chequer Mead, East Grinstead, 01342 302000. Sing along to great songs from Christmas past at Chequer Mead. Now in its tenth record-breaking year, Christmas Crooners is packed with festive favourites including the hits of Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra. The cast of West-End singers are backed by The Jazz All-Stars. They perform popular Christmas hits as well as swing arrangements of Christmas hymns and songs.

10. Psychedelic Junction.

December 6, Studio Philomena, 7 Baker Street, Uckfield. A Sussex artist is holding a book launch with accompanying paintings. “Psychedelic Junction spans a short semblance of time, in which incident after incident occur like the ripple effect on the glassy surface of a still pond,” said a spokesperson. “Written and illustrated by an artist, this is no ordinary book, more a piece of artwork with pages, a beginning and an end.” Visit www.philomenaharmsworthart.co.uk to find out more.
