Tonico Lemos Auad in new DLWP show

Next Saturday, January 30, sees the opening of the De La Warr Pavilion's next exhibition which is work by Brazilian Tonico Lemos Auad.

The show runs until April 10 in Gallery 1 and entry is free.

This London-based artist makes sculptures that act as tools for processing thoughts. Often responding specifically in relation to the site and its people, Auad inspects ideas around act of faith, mending and repairing, resistance and attempts to overcome adversity.

In response to the DLWP’s proximity to the natural elements and the town’s history as a seaside resort and its relationship to mental health and well-being, the exhibition will focus on the activity of gardening. On Saturday March 5 at 2pm Auad will discuss his work with Jane Won of the DLWP and Paul Carey Kent in the studio, tickets £7 or £5 concessions, 01424 229111.
