Tzu-Yin Huang is latest Hastings piano series performer
The programme will be: Liszt – Années de Pèlerinage: Première Année: Suisse No.2 “Au lac de wallenstadt”; Liszt – Années de Pèlerinage: Première Année: Suisse No.4 “Au bord d’une source”; Brahms – Four pieces for Piano Op.119, No.1 Intermezzo, No.2 Intermezzo, No.3 Intermezzo, No.4 Rhapsody.

Hide AdSpokeswoman Dominika Hicks explains: “Hastings International Piano, the charity responsible for the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition and the Hastings International Piano Festival, has launched an online concert series to support the careers of their prizewinners in this time of national crisis. The short recitals premiere every Friday evening on Facebook at 7pm and at http://Hastingsinternationalpiano.org.
“In these times when the livelihood of our musicians is at risk, with engagements being cancelled and studies on hold, this series aims to provide an income to the young competition prizewinners as well as offering Hastings Piano supporters and the wider public something to look forward to at the end of the week.
“The concerts are free to view, but viewers are able to make a voluntary donation to Hastings International Piano Engagement Fund or choose to join as a Friend whilst watching. These donations help to continue the organisation’s work supporting young pianists as well as engagement projects offered to the young people of Hastings and the surrounding area. This includes free tickets to events as well as workshops, school visits and inspirational talks from visiting artists.”
The Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition is an internationally-renowned competition for young concert pianists from around the world.

Hide AdTzu-Yin Huang began playing the piano at the age four in Taiwan. After many years of study, including an undergraduate degree from National Taiwan Normal University, she came to the United States where she received her master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Michigan. She has won many awards including First Prize and Orchestra Prize at the 12th Hastings International Piano Competition in East Sussex, England. This has led to numerous performances in England including her London debut, and concerto performances with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. She also received top prizes at the American Prize, Wideman International Piano Competition, the Iowa Piano Competition, concerto competitions at both the University of Michigan and National Taiwan Normal University, and the YAMAHA Piano Competition in Taiwan. She has served as performing pianist for the Innsbrook and Meadowmount music festivals, and also as a fellow of the Gijón International Piano Festival in Spain. She is a performing artist of Chamber Music Michigan (CMM), and has her own Duo group called “Ecius.” Most recently she focuses on expanding her repertoire, as well as performing throughout the United States and Europe. Her principal teachers include Chung-Wen Tsai, Louis Nagel, and Logan Skelton. As she believes that artists have a responsibility to bring music and inspiration to others, Ms. Huang particularly enjoys the connections she is able to make through community outreach in schools and retirement homes. She truly loves performing as nothing in the world makes her happier. In all of her studies, she has learned that the most important thing is to play music from the heart.
