Barney and Paula Pout, together as Duality, will perform One Night Only at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre on Friday September 14.

Barney also runs two bands which are resident at The Langham Hotel and Hydro and they have in recent years been the chosen entertainment for functions such as Eastbourne Hoteliers Association’s annual dinner, The Mayor’s Annual Charity Ball, Eastbourne Rotary and Friends Of The DGH annual ball and the recent Glitter Ball, all held at The Winter Gardens.

In One Night Only the couple will be be singing with Barney’s band The Rhythm Crew, in a celebration of their favourite music from the singer-songwriter hits of Billy Joel, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, The Carpenters, Carole King through to dance and party anthems of the 70s and 80s.

Now in their 20th year performing together, Paula and Barney are “thrilled” to be appearing at the Royal Hippodrome in this special “one off” show joined by local musicians who have worked at prestigious venues like Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club, and played with top names including Randy Crawford, Ruthie Henshall, Clare Teal, Courtney Pine and Kurtis Steigers.

Paula started performing at an early age and trained locally as a dancer. One of her favourite roles, at the age of 18, was playing Peggy Sawyer in a highly acclaimed production of 42nd Street. Paula went on to train at Guildford School Of Acting & Musical Theatre and started her professional career in summer seasons and pantomimes around the UK. In 1998 she secured her first contract working as a dancer and production vocalist onboard MV Marco Polo for Orient Lines.

Barney also began performing as a youngster in his hometown of Whitstable, Kent, then trained at Mountview Theatre School in London. After performing in shows for the Covent Garden Festival, Nottingham Playhouse, Theatre Clwyd, Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds, Music Hall and pantomime at The Players’ Theatre in London, he secured a job as lead vocalist onboard MV Marco Polo, met a young singer called Paula King - and the rest is history.

They have two children, Caleb (9), recently Jeremy in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at The Devonshire Park Theatre and Zara (6), who also enjoys singing and dancing. Both children have a love for performing and attend Trapdoor Theatre School and Zoe Pennington’s Dance School.

They promise a night of great music and favourites with a couple of surprise guests thrown in. Tickets £16 from box office on 01323 802020 or www.royalhippodrome.com.
