French and Bruckner on same menu

WORTHING Symphony Orchestra first-desk fiddler Rita French will be in concerto action again with one of her other regular bands this month.

She will play Dvorak's highly attractive and characteristic Violin Concerto with Worthing Philharmonic Orchestra at the Assembly Hall on March 30. She is this orchestra's long-standing leader.

The WPO promises a "Spring Treat". In fact, it's even a bit more special than that, with Bruckner's Third Symphony on the bill too. This is in D minor, the same key as Bruckner's first of his superb masses, and of his final, great unfinished Ninth Symphony. And, of course, of Beethoven's final symphony which proved such an inspirational model for Bruckner's compositional career.

It's an ambitious choice and follows the introduction to the Assembly Hall of the Bruckner symphonic sound, a few years ago, by John Gibbons and the WSO with No 4, The Romantic.
