MUSIC: The Maxibons

A WORTHING band is hoping their performance will be good enough to take them one step nearer a recording contract and a chance to make it big.

The Maxibons got the thumbs up from judges at Live and Unsigned auditions in Brighton, giving them a place in the live area final at the Hove Centre on Saturday, March 21.

Four Worthing lads make up the band '“ Kevin Short (vocals and guitar), Laurence Dumbleton (drums and vocals), Lewis Hagues (bass) and Joe White (guitar and vocals).

They have been together since spring last year and have created an instantly classic and original blend of Indie rock with catchy melodies.

Since their formation, they have been prolific in both writing and performing around Worthing, Brighton and Crawley and are getting great reviews from those who have seen and heard them.

They will be competing in front of an audience of hundreds and a professional judging panel to win a place in the next round.

Live and Unsigned is the biggest music talent search for original acts in the UK.

Chris Grayston, events director, explained: "This cannot be compared to any other talent searches as the acts' talent is the show.

" We are interested in discovering and exposing talent at its best; live! It is as simple as we say, get Live, get signed."

The Maxibons will have to perform two songs '“ one of their best own written songs and a creative cover.

The overall winner will be offered a recording and management contract with Future Music, with an investment of up to 20,000 to release their single.
