Internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Louise Winter and pianist Nancy Cooley will perform a varied programme of songs at St Michael’s Church, High Street, Lewes, on Sunday, December 7.

The recital includes French songs by Duparc and Fauré, Berg’s Seven Early Songs and a group of English songs by composers including Vaughan Williams.

It starts at 3pm. Admission is free and there is a retiring collection in aid of church repairs.

Louise and Nancy have a long-standing musical partnership.

Louise has worked as a soloist at Glyndebourne, English National Opera, the Royal Opera House and at international opera houses including Berlin, Frankfurt, Brussels and Toronto. Forthcoming roles include Marcellina at the Royal Opera House.

Nancy specialises in songs and chamber music, and has performed at the Wigmore Hall, the South Bank, the Aldeburgh, Brighton, Edinburgh, Cheltenham and Aix en Provence festivals, as well as many local festivals around Britain.

She coaches singers at the Royal College of Music, works for Glyndebourne and Glyndebourne Education and teaches piano at Brighton College.

This is the last recital in this year’s First Sunday Series. Recitals resume in February.
