Bluesman creates warm and engaging shows

Award-winning New York bluesman Guy Davis creates an intimate evening of blues at Worthing’s Connaught Studio on Thursday, May 8 (01903 206206).

With 12 critically-acclaimed albums to his name, Guy is known for creating warm engaging shows, which draw from his boundary-pushing career as a guitarist and singer.

Throughout his career, he has dedicated himself to reviving the traditions of acoustic blues and brings the genre to as many ears as possible through a combination of material by the great blues masters, African American traditional stories as well as his own stories and performance pieces.

Praised by peers such as the late Odetta and Pete Seeger as well as Eric Bibb and Taj Mahal, Guy will perform a medley of work from albums including his most recent Juba Dance and 2009’s Sweetheart Like You.

Guy’s varied career has led him to appear on television worldwide, in front of thousands at festivals and at intimate gatherings of students at music camps. Throughout his life, Guy has had overlapping interests in music, writing and acting.

Acting roles have included a lead role in Beat Street opposite Rae Dawn Chong and his Broadway musical debut in 1991 in Mulebone.
