Burgess Hill Choral Society is looking for new members as it embarks on a new season.

Spokeswoman Frances Eales said: “We are one of the most versatile choirs in the area, with over 80 members from different walks of life, and are continually developing our tradition of excellence under the baton of musical director Michael Stefan Wood.

“Mike has received the British Empire Medal for his outstanding services to music in the local area and brings to the choir great skill, knowledge and enthusiasm for music, which he imparts readily to choir members.

“Under his direction, rehearsals are always enjoyable and result in a high standard of musical expression.

“In the Christmas concert this year, the choir will be performing a work new to us, the Christmas Oratorio by Camille Saint-Saëns together with the well-loved Cantique de Jean Racine by Gabriel Fauré.

“Then in the New Year, we are delighted to be rehearsing the Requiem by Johannes Brahms in preparation for our April concert.

“If you would like to join us or come along to try a rehearsal, you can be assured of a warm welcome.

“We are a non-auditioned choir and invite experienced singers as well as people who haven’t sung for a while.

“Please phone 01273 834223 if you would like to come along to a rehearsal.

“Our website at, gives information about the Society, upcoming concerts and recent events.

“Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings from 8pm to 10pm at the United Reformed Church Hall, Junction Road, Burgess Hill and begin on Monday, September 8.”
