Folk legends in town

Jacqui McShee’s Pentangle, Hailsham Pavilion, Saturday March 31, 7.30pm.

JACQUI McShee and Pentangle (pictured) are legendary names in the world of folk, jazz and rock, with the original group sharing the stage with such luminaries as Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and James Taylor and appearing at all the world’s leading concert halls and major festivals.

Since those heady days of the late sixties and seventies, the band’s evolving styles and line-ups have continued to make ground-breaking music and Jacqui’s unique voice has always been very much part of it.

Currently Jacqui is backed by Fairport Convention’s percussionist, Gerry Conway, together with two stalwarts from John Martyn’s old band, Alan Thompson on bass and Spencer Cozens, now with Joan Armatrading on keyboards and Gary Foote who is also part of Joan Armatrading’s band on saxophones.

David Hughes of St Agnes Fountain is set to open the show.

Tickets available from 01323 841414.
