New and traditional songs

Mid Sussex’s Choir’s Christmas Celebration will feature a mix of old and new at St Wilfrid’s Church, Haywards Heath, on Saturday, December 7.

There will some “old” or traditional music, including eight choruses from Handel’s Messiah, Holst’s Christmas Day medley and carols for the audience to sing.

There will be new carols composed recently – three by Alun Cook and one by Robin Mayhew.

There will be songs from The 4Tune Seekers barbershop quartet and from soloists who are choir members – Annette Robinson and Katharine Collett.

Lorraine Welch will perform a topical recitation.

The choir will be conducted by its ‘traditional’ conductor, musical director Andrew Sutton, and will be accompanied by its new accompanist Phillip Sears who joined in 2013, along with Neil Matthews on the organ.

Tickets will be £12 on the door but can be purchased in advance from Carousel Music at just £10 each.

Accompanied children are free. Start your Christmas Celebrations with Mid Sussex Choir.

The celebration starts at 7.30pm.
