Two fabulous young musical talents – flautist Katherine Smith and harpist Laura Pandolfo – will be presenting a recital of Donizetti, Bozza, Lieberman and Young at St Wilfrid’s Church in Haywards Heath on Saturday, December 14, at 7 pm.

Katherine and Laura formalised their partnership by forming the Sark Duo during their studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

Throughout their first year the Duo performed in many venues around London including Kings Place.

This year they were semi-finalists in the Trinity Laban Soloist Competition as well as being shortlisted for the International Salieri-Zinetti Chamber Music Competition in Verona.

Katherine gained a first class Honours from Birmingham Conservatoire where she studied with Colin Lilley and is studying for a Masters degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance under the tutelage of Anna Noakes.

She is currently a Leverhulme scholar and was selected as the first recipient of the Michael Hirst Award for postgraduate flautists.

Laura Pandolfo started playing the harp at seven years of age and graduated in 2010 in Udine, Italy.

In June 2013 she graduated at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance attending the Postgraduate Advanced Artist Diploma. She teaches in two music schools in Italy.

In 2011 she won the International Competition of Treviso, Italy and in March 2013 the Trinity Laban Composition for Harp Competition.

As a soloist, she plays regularly in London and in leading Italian venues.

In February she became Principal Harpist of The Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra under their conductor James Blair.

Laura also teaches in two Italian music schools. She has made CDs in Italy and London with the TCM Contemporary Chamber Music Group.

The church has a good acoustic and the seating is comfortable.

This promises to be a delightful recital with the lovely instrumental combination of flute and harp.

Tickets for the show are £10 each (under 18s, £5) and can be obtainable from the Parish Office or at the door on the night.

Doors open at 6.30pm and further details are available from Andrew Storey on 07900602860.
