Powerful acting in German cult movie

The next Eastbourne Film Society presentation at the Curzon cinema is the German film Stations Of The Cross on Wednesday February 10.

It centres on an incredible performance from young actress Lea van Acken who plays the 14 year old Maria.

Written by its director Dietrich Brüggemann in conjunction with sister, Anna, Stations of the Cross is the story of a girl who even more than her mother becomes totally devoted to an extreme Catholic sect of a kind encountered in Germany by the filmmakers.

The girl’s story told in fourteen sections echoing the stations of the cross becomes increasingly gripping as we wonder just how far her devotion to this church will take her.
