It’s hard to believe this North American punk rock band known as White Lung have been around for a decade now.

It feels like they’re finally getting the recognition they deserve.

And yet their latest platter is a tad more conventional than their previous three albums – It’s The Evil (2010), Sorry (2012) and Deep Fantasy (2014).

Maybe a factor in this is that the singer is now married and the aggression and party animal antics might not be as prevalent as previously.

But they still have a sense of humour, recently stating on their Facebook page that “there are no synths on this album”. True, there aren’t! But White Lung are not that sort of band.

If you want to listen to a synth at the Green Door Store then come back on Friday, June 10, for Molly Nilsson.

Tonight the peroxide blond singer Mish Barber-Way and her band-mates Anne-Marie Vassiliou (drums), Kenneth William (guitar) and Lindsey Troy (bass) rocked through 14 tracks. Half of these were from their new fourth album, Paradise, which was released on May 6.

Mish’s voice was strangely getting gravelly tonight (the opening night of their 10-date European tour) but there was no sign of whisky, just water when she could find it.

Having said that, every song was fast, loud and in-your-face and the punters duly loved it.

The standout songs performed were ‘Sister’, ‘Dead Weight’ and ‘Drown With The Monster’. Alas, there was no encore. Pacing themselves no doubt. With 44 gigs to go who can blame them?
