Rock school's out for summer

The auditions for the fifth summer stage experience will take place on the June 10 at the White Rock Theatre.

This is a great opportunity to get involved in an amazing singing, dancing and performing experience led by professionals from the theatre industry and this year's performance is the epic We Will Rock You.

Queen, the legendary band, have been making music together since the 70s and have now joined forces with writer Ben Elton to bring their unique sound to theatreland.

In the Queen song-fest, the action takes place in a futuristic world where rock music is banned.

Last year, over 130 young people were instructed in dancing, singing and acting and eight youngsters learnt about technical theatre covering set building, lighting, sound engineering, stage management and costume.

In the shows that were staged, every aspect of the show was completed by the members including the operation of all technical equipment.

The Summer Stage Experience 2007 will run from August 5 until August 18.

During this time the youngsters will learn how to dance, perform and sing on the professional stage.

All performances will be fully promoted by the White Rock Theatre and the main aim is not to make a profit and all proceeds will be put back into the project.

This free audition day is this Sunday.

There will be over hundred young people and will be separated into two groups- surnames from A-J to arrive at the theatre at 10am. Surnames K-Z at 2pm.

All performing applicants will learn a song and a dance which they will perform in small groups in front of the Director, Choreographer and Musical Director.

Everyone will be given a chance to present all their talents.

A fee of 145 will be applicable for the project if you are successful at auditions.
