Soweto Gospel Choir returns to the UK this autumn. The highly acclaimed, Grammy Award-winning choir will undertake a limited UK tour from 12 to 25 November to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The choir will perform at the New Alexandra Theatre on Sunday 24 November at 7.30pm.
Over the last 10 years Soweto Gospel Choir has brought joy into the lives of audiences all over the world. They have collaborated, recorded and performed with artists including Bono and U2, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Robert Plant, Celine Dion, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Peter Gabriel, Josh Grobin, as well as Andre Rieu.
They have performed in front of President Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey and of course their spiritual fathers, Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Theirs is a joyful spectacular of song and dance.
The Choir’s first ticketed performance was in 2003 in Australia. Their subsequent sell-out and acclaimed Edinburgh Festival appearance in 2004 both established them rapidly as firm Festival favourites and secured an enthusiastic and ever-growing fan-base here in the UK. Many tours have followed and the Choir are still feted wherever they go around the country.
