Poynings Players are set to stage their fourth pantomime production this weekend (January 9, 10 and 11) at Poynings’ Holy Trinity Church.
The show, Aladdin, is packed with local humour and will raise much needed funds for the Downland Parish Churches.
A welcome addition to the cast this year sees two of the Willoughby Triplets, David and Philip making their inaugural appearance. Born in the Village of Poynings and with strong family ties in the area, they are sure to be a huge hit. Former Brighton & Hove Albion captain Adam Virgo will also be treading the boards with the Players this year.
Money raised from the sale of the tickets will go towards the Church Restoration Fund. The Downland Churches, once the lifeblood of the smaller communities, need a lot of money to maintain their upkeep.
The churches hope that throwing open their doors to other activities will encourage visitors to enjoy the buildings and once again set them at the heart of the community.
The pantomime will stage four performances from Friday to Sunday. Saturday night is sold out but details and tickets for the other performances can be obtained from www.poynings.net or The Royal Oak, Poynings.
