Laugh away those January blues

Barnstormers are promising more great comedy at The Ropetackle, Shoreham, on Saturday, January 17, at 8.30pm (01273 464440).

Once more, compere Kevin Precious introduces another three top acts from the London circuit. January’s offering comprises madcap storyteller Joe Rowntree; former welder Sean Percival; and Davey Johns.

Kevin said: “Joe Rowntree performs at the most prestigious and reputable comedy clubs across the UK and international comedy circuit. Joe has also been a hit overseas in Dubai, Qatar and Bahrain (with the Comedy Store) and throughout Europe and America. He has supported Rhod Gilbert and Stephen K Amos in theatres on their national tours and performed for a month in Mary Tobin’s Best of Fest package show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival 2012.

“Sean Percival’s brand of comedy steers clear of the surreal and confronts realism in an explosively-funny way. Sean is an ex-welder from Dudley whose down-to-earth act is bang up to date with its upfront attitude. A festival favourite he has performed at the Edinburgh, Download, Reading, Leeds and Sonisphere festivals and as an established headliner he plays regularly at all major comedy clubs around the UK.

“Davey Johns has gained a reputation as an inventive, exciting and extremely-funny comedian winning applause from his audiences, respect from his fellow comics and rave reviews from the critics. He has had two very successful runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in two highly-acclaimed shows Dave Johns On The Edge in 1998 and I’m in The Attic Mother in 1999 at the Pleasance Theatre for which he won the Spirit of the Fringe Award.

“Dave has been invited to perform across the world from Glastonbury to Hong Kong and performed sell-out shows at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in Australia 1998,1999 and 2001.”
