Lewes Labour Party are putting on a comedy night on Wednesday, February 19 (7.30pm), featuring one of the rising stars of the comedy circuit and a veteran of the Comedy Store.
Stand-up for Labour takes place at the All Saints Centre, Friars Walk, Lewes, and features Live at the Apollo, QI, The Thick of It star Sara Pascoe.
Also appearing is Norman Lovett, who is known for appearing in Red Dwarf, as well as being a regular headliner on the comedy circuit since the 1980s. Also on the bill is Kevin Precious, who lives in Lewes and runs a number of comedy clubs across the country.
The idea behind the comedy night is to raise the morale of Labour supporters and to raise some money for the local party in the process.
The brains behind it is Crispin Flintoff, who has promoted more than 70 events from Edinburgh to Eastbourne.
He said: “These are depressing times, with austerity, bedroom tax and Grant Shapps. The best antidote is to gather together and laugh it off.”
