Brighton Theatre Group Youth bring West Side Story to the Corn Exchange, Brighton, opening on February 4.

Spokeswoman Amanda Solomon said: “Hot on the heels of their phenomenal production of Grease last year, Brighton Theatre Group Youth (BTGY) is proud to present another show-stopping musical, this time set against a backdrop of clashing street gangs in America – West Side Story, perhaps the greatest musical ever written.

“This musical explores the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds.

“The dark theme, sophisticated music, extended dance scenes, and focus on social problems brought us unforgettable songs such as Something’s Coming, Maria, America and I Feel Pretty. West Side Story will feature exciting and stunning dance routines designed by choreographer Jodie Harrup with Jo Barnes and Gary Lynn as musical co-ordinators.

West Side Story will be performed at The Corn Exchange in Church Street, Brighton, from February 4-8. Box office 01273 709709.
