Worthing Music and Arts Festival hold The Worthing Festival Performer of the Year finals on Friday, February 24 at The Emmanuel Centre, St Michael’s Road from 6.30pm.
Spokeswoman Jan Swabey said: “This will be an exciting new venture for the Festival as it will be the first year that drama has been included in the finals of the Speech and Drama section.
“The three categories are Worthing Junior Festival Performer of the Year nine-11 years, Worthing Young Performer of the Year 12-14 years and Worthing Festival Performer of the Year 15-25 years.
“Each section will perform an acted scene from a play plus a choice of verse or prose-reading. Cash prizes of £50, £75 and £100 plus an award and commemorative scroll will be presented to the winner of each section.
“Callie Foster, one the country’s top adjudicators, will lead the panel of judges. Also included are Stephen Harper, Worthing’s own actor and puppeteer straight from performing in War Horse in the West End, The Mayor of Worthing, councillor Ann Barlow and Marcus Martin, the Festival chairman.”
