Wordsmith plays it for laughs

A five-star smash-hit Edinburgh show is heading for Brighton as part of a national tour with the visit of Luke Wright – Your New Favourite Poet to the Komedia on February 15.

Spokesman Steve Forster said: “Expect Poetry at its most fun, contemporary, and satirical featuring thigh-slapping acerbic wordplay and bawdy bar room ballads as Wright introduces you to a cast of greedy politicians and boozy ne’er-do-wells.

“Meet public schoolboy Jeremy, kung-fu fighting French copper Jean-Claude Gendarme and witness the world’s first b-movie set in Brentwood.

“Luke is a regular contributor to radio (especially Radio 4’s Saturday Live), TV and newspapers.

“He writes poetry for films and television and is host and programmer of the Latitude Festival’s Poetry Arena.

His latest collection of poems Mondeo Man has just been published and he has taken his distinctive, hilarious yet thoughtful poetry as far afield as Australia and China.

He might just be the hardest working man in poetry.”

Luke is also host and programmer of the Latitude Festival’s Poetry Arena, the largest single poetry event held in Europe.

He has programmed many other poetry festivals and events including the Edinburgh Fringe’s first ever, and to date only, dedicated poetry venue.
