Family days out: 14 Things to do with the kids during half term in Chichester, Bognor Regis, Midhurst and Petworth

This half term there is lots to see and do at Weald & Downland Living Museum. You can take part in its Bird Box Trail. Along the way you will discover facts about our feathery friends, where they like to nest and how you can help them get their nests ready for spring. Once you’ve found all the boxes and completed the clues, you can enter a prize draw to win a Bird Box of your own to put up at home. From Monday, February 13 until Friday, February 17, you can take part in I Spy Hidden Treasures’ in the Downland Gridshell, where they will be opening up its Collections Stores for a very special treasure hunt. Also, from Tuesday, February 14 to Thursday , February 16, discover the Knucker the Dragon Nature School, with ‘Get Ready for Spring.’ You can take part in Create and Grow activities, learn at the Investigation Station and have fun at the Games Station. Activities include: Funny Face Seed Pots to decorate and grow at home, make your own bird feeder, and match the bud to the tree challenge.

There is lots going on at the Novium museum from February 14 until 18. You can take part in the Pirate & Smugglers Trail, and help Captain Crimson Seadog track down his stolen gold. Collect your scroll and follow a map around the museum to find the hidden treasure, and discover who committed this crime! Test your pirate skills will activities along the way. Once you’ve found the gold and solved the clues, make sure to collect your prize! No need to book, simply collect your pirate scroll on arrival to the museum. On February 14 there will be pirate themed interactive storytelling. Children can dress up, create and perform your own fairy tale and make some music, before joining in with an interactive performance of ‘Pirates Ahoy’, and on February 16 you can decorate pirate swords - be sure to book in for both these activities.

On February 15, the canal's community team will be waiting to welcome you and your children (age up to 11 suggested) at its Heritage Centre. Please drop in any time between 10am and 3pm, no need to book. You will be able to make snowflakes, colour winter and spring pictures and decorate a snowy owl mask. This event is free, However, as a charity, donations are well. the cafe will be open so you can buy refreshments. Please note, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
