A Littlehampton social group has been set up for people who rely on mobility scooters, building on an adventures blog launched three years ago.

Tara Roberts, who has an invisible illness, created Rarars Adventures in October 2019 as she drives a mobility scooter and noticed it was hard to judge how disabled friendly new places might be.

She has now created RA Scooter Buddies, a free group for people with visible and non-visible disabilities. Volunteer Hayley Martello, Tara's sister, said: "Tara created this completely free group group to offer a fully-inclusive activity for people who rely on mobility scooters for their independence.

"It's a chance to improve your confidence when using a mobility scooter, to also be able to meet new people and improve your mental health."

The group current meets on Tuesdays at 10am, gathering at the lighthouse on Littlehampton Pier and driving along to Mewsbrook Park Cafe on their mobility scooters.

Hayley said: "We scooter down to the cafe, where you can buy yourself drinks or food, have a chat and catch up, and then ride back to the lighthouse together. As we get busier, we are also hoping to run an afternoon session."
