The brand new virtual fun run will go ahead on December 20 just in time to raise money for charity before the big day.

The event - open to adults and children - allows runners dressed in Santa costumes to cover any distance, anywhere and at any time.

Competitors are encouraged to run for their favourite charity or alternatively for this year’s Mayor’s Charity – People Matter, which supports jobseekers with information, advice and expert guidance to help find people suitable work.

Runners can choose how far they wish to cover and then share photos on social media using #EBSantaFunRun. The event will be open until December 25 for anyone unable to run on December 20.

Councillor Margaret Bannister, the Eastbourne Borough Council lead cabinet member for tourism and enterprise, said, “This is a fantastic way to support your local community and enjoy some healthy exercise all while injecting a little bit of festive fun.

“We’d love to see the streets of Eastbourne come alive with a merriment of decorated Santas, and we can’t wait to see all of your fun photos and crazy costumes as a result.”
