Good news as food hygiene ratings given to seven Brighton and Hove establishments

A Food Standards Agency rating sticker on a window of a restaurant in central London. A huge variation in food hygiene standards remains across the UK, with one in five high or medium-risk food outlets failing to meet standards, according to a study.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to seven of Brighton and Hove’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them all.

Restaurants, cafes and canteens

The following ratings have been given to two restaurants, cafes or canteens:

• Rated 5: Fiveways Grill at 255 Ditchling Road, Brighton; rated on December 8

• Rated 5: Petisco Cafe Portugues at 8 Oxford Street, Brighton; rated on December 8

Pubs, bars and nightclubs

And three ratings have been handed to pubs, bars or nightclubs:

• Rated 5: The Star And Garter at 16 - 17 Kings Road, Brighton; rated on December 9

• Rated 5: Grand Central at 29 - 30 Surrey Street, Brighton; rated on December 6

• Rated 5: The Jolly Brewer Beer House at 176 Ditchling Road, Brighton; rated on November 30
