Afternoon performance by acclaimed organist

After ‘rising from the depths’ he praised the local team for the enhanced quality of the 90-year-old instrument, before beginning a varied programme. Each was unhurriedly played with much sensitivity to the composers’ intentions; among which was a Sinatra tribute, where each song reflected the great singer’s timing and expression. Kevin ended the afternoon by playing 10 items chosen by the audience, before descending to the pit with the hand-clapping audience accompanying the Radetzky March. Kevin began playing the piano at age 3, and played the organ for Choral Evensong in Salisbury Cathedral at age 11; he studied at Durham Cathedral, became organist and choir master at Bolton Parish Church, and gained many qualifications, including being a prize-winning Fellow of the Royal College of Organists.
