MULTI-TALENTED award-winning comedian, writer and actress Jennifer Saunders, whose brilliant comic creations have brought joy to millions for three decades, will be in conversation with Darren Scott, Editor of Gay Times, at the De La Warr Pavilion for one night only, discussing her life and her new book, Bonkers: My Life In Laughs.

From Comic Strip to Comic Relief, from Bolly-swilling Edina in Absolutely Fabulous to her hilarious portrayal of Meryl Streep in Mama Mia!, Jennifer Saunders’ characters are household names. Her funny, touching and disarmingly honest memoir - filled with stories of friends, laughter and occasional heartache, but never misery – gives an insight of how one of the UK’s foremost female comics became such a phenomenal success.

When asked what made Ms Saunders decide to share her memories with the masses at this point of her life she said: “As the steady march of time takes its toll on my memory and the vultures circle, I thought I should have a stab at recollecting how it all happened..

“I have been told that publishers these days like a particular type of memoir. They like a little bit of misery. They like a ‘mis mem’. Well, I’m afraid I have had very little ‘mis’ in my life, and nowadays I have even less ‘mem’. So we can knock that one on the head. In fact my brain is a bit soupy overall.”

From her childhood on RAF bases, where her father was a pilot, to her life-changing encounter with young Dawn French, on to success and family, the book charts her extraordinary story, including the slip ups and battles along the way.

Of her book Jennifer says: “I will tell you all I remember, and embellish all that I don’t. For my publisher’s sake I shall name-drop regularly and mention royalty as much as possible. Press on.”
