Bexhill and District CSMA Group

NOW that the Christmas and the New Year celebrations are over and we have made and broken our NewYear's resolutions, our group is looking forward with anticipation to another year of lively and interesting activities.

There are monthly meetings in the Strand Room, at the Cooden Beach Hotel, at 7.30 pm on the third Tuesday of each month.

The meeting is a social affair for members to meet, chat, and listen to an interesting talk by an invited speaker. There is a raffle where the proceeds are currently given to the Sussex Air Ambulance service.

On the first Tuesday of each month, the Lunch Club meets at noon at various local hostelries around the area. The January Lunch Club was held at the Bo-Peep in St Leonards and the next one will be on February 3 at Hastings College.

On Tuesday, January 20, the talk scheduled to be given by Alan Fuller on A Policeman's Lot was postponed due to his ill-health.

In its place we enjoyed 'the chairman's quiz' which caused a great deal of merriment and racking of brains.

The questions were all fiendishly culled from radio and television programmes and personalities of the 1950s and 1960s.

We hope that at the next monthly meeting, on February 17, Alan Fuller will have recovered and will be able to give his postponed talk.

On the afternoon of March 11 we have a Group outing to Jempson's Bakery at Peasmarsh. For all details of Group activities ring the secretary, Tony Calton, on 01424 434496.

We are happy to welcome new members from anywhere in the district who are members of CSMA , the Civil Service Motoring Association, or are interested in becoming members.

Membership is open to those, and their families, who have worked in Government or other public service.

The CSMA is not exclusively interested in motoring. It is largely a historical title harking back to the days when the roads were less busy and events such as car treasure hunts etc were held regularly.
