Boardroom Bankers Wriggling off the Bonus Hooks

IT will be serious for the Bankers who return to their old waysAnd gorge upon huge bonuses, because they know it pays.They must be made to live in our world and see their income hacked,So their poor and high risk judgements would hurt them if they're sacked.

"Bonuses are back" may be the going catchphrase in the City;

Yet despite the Regulators, they still act like 'Walter Mitty'.

Our citizens are disgusted as justice is outraged.

They've heaped recession on us all, but now they're being paged.

Meanwhile the Bank of England will be given a key role,

Assessing risk to individual banks and the system as a whole;

And that fine bank will prevent booms turning into bubbles,

Which has, in the past, been the source of many of our troubles.

So too, the F.S.A. will get more power to intervene,

Where risk behaviour, encouraged by rewards, is clearly seen.

Banks could be forced to hold more capital, as a safety net

And be stretched out on the rack, if they still gamble and bet.

Every man should help the other, as we strive and all go hence.

Not the Bankers to their millions and the jobless to their pence.

We look to the Government to right these dreadful wrongs

And show us by their actions, where our respect and trust belongs.
