Paddington has been at the heart of fundraising for Action Medical Research ever since his creator, Michael Bond, met the charity’s founder, Duncan Guthrie, in 1976. Always trying to help where he can, and after chatting the matter over with Mr Bond, Paddington eagerly decided to support Action Medical Research as the charity’s official mascot.

His friendly face has helped to attract thousands of new supporters who, together, have raised millions of pounds to help sick babies and children.

Karen Jankel, Michael Bond’s daughter and Managing Director of Paddington and Company, also continues to support the charity and even trekked to Darkest Peru – Paddington’s birthplace – in 2010, helping Action Medical Research to raise over £120,000. And Paddington himself takes part in the London Marathon, the Great North run and other fundraising events for the charity!

Davina McCall – one of the charity’s long-time supporters since childhood – narrated the Paddington classic ‘Paddington Goes to Hospital’ as an ebook, available on ITunes and Kindle with royalties for all copies sold in the UK being donated to Action Medical Research.
