They had simple but often strange plots, with unusual characters getting involved in all manner of bizarre mix-ups.

Hide AdThe whole story is told via a call-girl, Isabella Patterson, played by British actress Imogen Poots sporting a strong Brooklyn accent.
She meets the play’s director Arnold Albertson (Owen Wilson) who likes to give ladies in Isabella’s profession enough money to start a new life.
However she’s trying for a part in Albertson’s play, unbeknown to the director.
To add confusion, Arnold’s wife, who is a leading actress in the play, is being pursued by her co-star Seth Gilbert, played by Rhys Ifans, who spots Isabella and Arnold together.

Hide AdThrow in a judge in love with Isabella, an ageing private eye, and a psychiatrist (Jennifer Aniston) with more problems than her clients and you have a recipe for some very funny scenes.
The movie starts a bit slowly as we get introduced to the various characters but picks up for the second and third acts.
And watch out for a final cameo that is quite superb.
The performances are excellent with Aniston and Wilson revelling in roles that offer something a bit different.
So, as the rain pours down on another summer’s day this is a great way to pass the time.
