Little Common Photographic Club

THE year 2008 closed with a very successful and enjoyable Christmas social and then the first meeting in 2009, on January 5, was the second trophy competition with Ted Sturgeon, LRPS, as judge who gave constructive comments starting with 17 entries in the general slides.

Brian Reeve received 20 marks for The Crowns Mine; Sue Clarke's Golden Shells and June Larkin's Morning Mist both second with 19 marks; Dorothy Reeve's Fishing Boat and Brian Reeve's The Langdales tied third on 18 marks. There were 12 entries in the natural history category where Brian Reeve received first and second places with Green Veined White (20 points) and Blue-Tailed Damselfly with 19.5 points and John Larkin also received 20 points, first place, with Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly plus 18 points, third place, for Cloudless Sulphur with June Larkin's Great Blue Heron also third on 18 points.

The print section received 20 entries and three points tied first place with John Larkin's American White Pelican; Basil Ludkin's The Lonely Chapeau and Brian Reeve's Broad Bodied Chaser.

John Larkin also had two prints on 19 marks second place Misty Morning and Reflection Of The Palladio Basilica, Vicenzia and tied on 18 marks, third, June Larkin's Tangien Portrait with John Pergande's Sand, Sea And Sky. Small print section received 10 entries - Sue Clarke's Otter first on 20 marks and Gwyneth Ludkin's The Poser second on 19 points and Serenity third with 18 points.

At the next meeting, following a discussion on the club considering future digital image projection in view of possible changes likely within the Sussex Federation competitions, there will be a colour slide lecture entitled Spain And The Camargue from club member John Larkin.

February will have a lecture on Monday the second by popular guest speaker Michael Hoad Aspects Of North America; and the 16th there will be a trophy competition including set subject of Weather for slides.

Little Common Photographic Club meetings are held fortnightly on Mondays at the community centre in Shepherds Close, starting at 7.45pm.
