Spokesman Roger Nash is delighted to have secured the two of them for the popular series as it launches into its programme for 2016 this week.
“Combining the talents of northerners Stu Hanna and Debbie Hanna, the duo Megson are fast becoming hot property on the British folk and roots scene,” Roger said.
“Their previous albums, On the Side, Smoke of Home, Take Yourself a Wife, The Longshot and the 2014 release of In a Box all attest to their huge and creative talents.
“Three times nominated in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and double winners Spiral Earth Awards, the husband-and-wife hail from Teesside and draw heavily on this heritage to create their unique brand of folk music.
“Their infectious sound is a mix of heavenly vocals, lush harmonies and driving rhythmic guitars and mandolas.
“Since the duo’s genesis in 2004 the couple have played up and down the country at numerous folk clubs and festivals, picking up a strong fanbase along the way and selling out their extensive tour dates.
“Their growing talent was recognised not only with two nominations for Best Duo in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2009 and 2010 but also with burgeoning interest from the major broadsheets.
“The latest Megson album, In a Box has been highly acclaimed and features guest performances from folk greats such as Seth Lakeman plus Jess Morgan & The Willows and was named best folk album of 2014 by The Daily Telegraph.
“In addition to his role in Megson, Stu’s talents as a producer on the folk scene are very much in demand, and he has produced award-winning albums for Benji Kirkpatrick, Faustus, Mawkin, Show of Hands, Lucy Ward, The Willows and The Young’Uns.”
Tickets for Megson are £12 and £11 (concs), available online at www.WeGotTickets.com. They are also available by calling/texting 01243 820187/07751 594285.
Roger anticipates that a limited number of tickets will be available on the door.
The venue is Seasons at the Bognor Regis Town Football Club (PO21 2TY), and the evening starts at 8pm.
