Philharmonic Choir performs

They will sing Stainer – The Crucifixion, Vaughan Williams – Mystical Songs, and Bruckner – Motets in an evening featuring tenor Mark Bradbury, baritone Ian Gardiner, and conductor Stephen Hope.

Ian Gardner was born and educated in Winchester. Having completed the Hampshire specialist music course, he went to London to study voice at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. After graduating he enjoyed singing recitals, oratorio, sacred music and opera in London, around the country and in Europe and received a choral scholarship from St Martin-in-the-Fields, singing for the BBC daily service and at the Queen’s private chapel in Windsor Great Park.

Since moving to Horsham, Ian has continued singing and playing, both locally and around the south of England.

He is currently head of music at The Weald School in Billingshurst. He is on the worship team at St John’s, Broadbridge Heath and also plays in a jazz quintet.

Mark Bradbury enjoys singing regularly in professional choirs and he has been a member of the Glyndebourne Chorus since 1999. He has sung expensively in Europe and runs a choir at St Mary’s school in Horsham. He is also director of a project called Little Notes which provides music sessions for babies, toddler and pre-school children.
