REVIEW: The Script at the Brighton Centre

So it was with real excitement that I went to see them perform again at the Brighton Centre on Tuesday night.

They were back at the seaside venue almost exactly two years since their last visit, this time for their No Sound Without Silence tour.

It is the band’s fourth album, so being relatively old-hands to the touring malarkey, it was with quite a confidence and swagger that they entered the arena.

Unusually, they came on from the back of the venue, flanked by a couple of dozen lucky audience members waving what can only be described as green light sabres with flags on.

Once they had paraded their way to the front, they hit the ground running by starting their set with the lively Paint the Town Green.

It got the audience dancing straight away, and they kept the pace going with Hail Rain or Sunshine from their latest album and then Breakeven, from their first album.

The Brighton Centre isn’t the largest venue on their tour, so some of the set had to be omitted, but it was still good. Three large screens filled the back wall, with lasers used throughout the evening.

Other tracks which really got the crowd going were Superheroes, Nothing and No Good in Goodbye.

An excellent evening ended far too soon on one of The Script’s biggest hits, Hall of Fame.

I’m already looking forward to them coming back to town.
