Ron returns to folk club

The Willows Folk Club in Arundel welcomes back one of its most popular guests from past years, singer-songwriter Ron Trueman-Border, on Wednesday April 13,

Club spokesman Chris Davis said: “One of the finest singer-songwriters to emerge from Kent, Ron’s greatest skill as a songwriter is his uncanny ability to craft meaningful songs on a variety of subjects, whilst still managing to couple them with infectiously-memorable choruses.

“Stylistically, Ron incorporates folk, blues and country music into his material, and the subject matter of his songs is as diverse as his musical skills, veering from the deadly serious to parodies of modern life, and to love songs and songs of all shapes, sizes, subjects and styles.

“The quality of Ron’s writing has earned him comparison with some of the folk scene’s finest, including Steve Knightley, Richard Thompson, Bruce Springsteen and even Bob Dylan.

“Ron is also a fine live performer, with a powerful singing voice and a skilful, expressive guitar style, both of which further serve to communicate the stories in his songs. Since his last appearance at the Willows, Ron’s career has really begun to take off, with gigs taking him all over the UK. His appearance at the club represents an exciting opportunity to catch one of the folk scene’s rising stars!”

Entrance for Ron’s gig on Wednesday, April 13 is £4. The Willows Folk Club meets every Wednesday at 8:00pm in the function room of Arundel Football Club, Mill Road, Arundel, situated to the rear of the large public car park opposite Arundel Castle.
