Royal Naval Association Bexhill Branch

THE first meeting of 2009 was attended by 40 shipmates, a very good turnout considering our greatly depleted membership and the inclement weather.

The evening's meeting began with a presentation by members of the local Lifeline service, Shipmates were shown the latest equipment and given an in depth explanation how the service operated.

A great deal of interest was shown in this very useful response service and many questions were asked by shipmates at the conclusion of the presentation.

After a customary 'stand easy' to refill glasses, the chairman gave his monthly report and the secretary gave details of the interesting points in the Association's monthly circular.

The social secretary asked all shipmates to support the social committee by attending the 15th anniversary dinner on Friday, March 6, at the Egerton Park Indoor Bowls Club.

The monthly ship identification competition was won by shipmate Doreen Wilson who correctly named the ship HMS Shoreham.

The meeting concluded with the monthly raffle organised by shipmate Rita Murphy.
