This concert is one of a number they are giving across the UK to promote their critically acclaimed debut CD Gusto, which has been featured on BBC Radio 3 and in Early Music Today Magazine.

The name K’antu refers to an ancient Peruvian style of music and dance and the ensembles fuses many world and folk music elements to create their distinctive sound.

The seven piece ensemble, directed by Ruth Hopkins, comprises talented multi-instrumentalists and singers from across Europe and features Haywards Heath’s prize-winning young professional recorder player, Michelle Holloway.

Michelle’s musical talents were nurtured while attending Great Walstead School and Warden Park School and she immersed herself in the amateur dramatics scene of the town.

She now works professionally as a recorder player in the UK and Europe after graduating from Birmingham Conservatoire with a high first class honours.

The concert, Songs and Dances of Renaissance Europe, which won Best Small Classical Ensemble Performance Award at Buxton during their summer tour, will feature music from England, Spain, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands.
