The man who just can't get Al Johnson out of his system

ALLAN Stewart admits it. He just can't get Al Johnson, the man so famously billed as ' the world's most famous entertainer, out of his system.

After huge success as Jolson in the late 90s, Allan is back for more in Jolson & Co '“ The Musical which tours to Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre until Saturday (April 4).

"He just keeps popping up in my life," Allan laughs. "Back in '96 there was a big production that was in the West End with Brian Conley in Jolson The Musical. It was a huge part and they asked me to come in and join the team and do a couple of shows a week.

"I did that and eventually I took over from Brian for three months, and then after a year and a half, Brian and I both went out to Toronto and did the show for seven months. I played it for two years from 1996-1998."
