The show will be at the Horsham venue from November 11 to 15 and promises fun for the whole family.

Set in New York at the turn of the century, the charismatic match-maker Dolly Levi is tasked with finding a suitable second wife for tight fisted Horace Vandergelder, a half-a-millionaire from Yonkers.

Little does he know though, that she has her sights set on him for herself and works situations to her advantage so she can get her man and ‘spread his money out among the people like rainwater’.

On her way she encourages love to bloom between Vandergelder’s shop clerk, Cornelius Hackl, and Irene Molloy, and their friends Barnaby Tucker and Minnie Fay, with hilarious consequences.

The show features well known musical numbers such as ‘Elegance’, ‘Put on Your Sunday Clothes’, ‘Before the Parade Passes By’ and, of course, ‘Hello, Dolly!’.

HAODS chairman Barry Syder said: “Hello, Dolly! is a hugely popular musical – funny, farcical and hugely entertaining. It was made famous by the 1969 film starring Barbra Streisand and the original musical with Carol Channing. “

He continued: “It showcases everything that HAODS does best, and with our hugely talented cast and crew, this show promises to live up to our reputation of being comparable to a West End production.”

Incorporating the extremely high production values that HAODS are renowned for, as shown in their previous productions of Sweeney Todd and The Sound of Music, Hello, Dolly! will feature stunning sets and props, professional lighting and sound, and beautifully designed costumes.

Some of the clothes have been designed and hand-made by talented costume designer, Eddy Willsher. The society says it is touches like this that set HAODS apart from others and the talent of passionate and loyal members that enables them to produce the best possible productions.

This is director Barrie Ward’s second outing with HAODS, his first being Guys & Dolls back in 2012.

Barrie said: “HAODS is my favourite society to direct for. They just go from strength to strength.

“Horsham is very lucky to have such a professional company it can call its own.”
