Injection of cash at Stables

There’s a tradition of transfers in the theatre where a play gets a try out in the sticks and then moves to a prestigious West End venue.

It’s much more rare for this to happen ‘out of town’ but that’s exactly what’s happened with Sedlescombe Players’ hilarious farce, Cash on Delivery.

It was staged in Sedlescombe Village Hall in June and played to packed audiences and rave reviews. Chris Lacey of the Stables Theatre in Hastings saw it and immediately snapped up the production, lock stock and barrel.

Cash on Delivery will play at the Stables from Thursday 7th to Saturday 9th November at 7.30pm.

Director Tara Buchanan, who runs Sedlescombe Players, said: “I think originally they were coming to see me as a potential director but they enjoyed Cash so much they opted to take the whole show.

It’s a great tribute to my dedicated team of actors and backstage crew and it’s another chance for people to see the play.”

Michael Cooney, son of the great farce-master himself Ray Cooney, wrote the piece which has been described as a ‘pure and simple, laugh-out-loud funny joy to watch.’
