REVIEW: Lawson at the Brighton Centre

Having seen the band perform at the Brighton Dome earlier in the year, I was curious to see how they would cope on what turned out to be their very first arena concert on the Everywhere we Go tour.

After a little wait and some entertaining support acts, the four boys – Andy, Joel, Adam and Ryan – took to the stage and they owned it.

The boys were buzzing to be back in Brighton – the city where they played their early gigs, impressing so much they were signed to a record label.

Drummer Adam, originally from Seaford, found it particularly special and pretty emotional to be “coming home” for such a monumental moment. In fact, he described it as “the best night of my life”.

The boys’ excitement and energy was infectious and the crowd was going wild as they belted out tune after tune. There were no big pauses for set changes or chat, it was all about the music and rightly so.

The band performed all their biggest hits, When she was Mine, Learn to Love Again and Standing in the Dark as well as some new songs from the second album due for release later this month. The next single, Juliet, starring model Kelly Brook in the video, is released on October 13.

Everything is getting bigger and better for Lawson and it’s clear to see why. Just don’t forget us in Brighton boys when you move on to even bigger venues!
