Stardom beckons for Sammy after YouTube film is a hit

A ten year old Henfield schoolgirl has become a local YouTube sensation after a short film she starred in has received more than 75,000 hits.

Sammy Foster may not be a household name yet, but her career on stage and now screen has garnered her a possible lead in a feature length film.

A pupil at St Peter’s Primary School in Fabians Way, Sammy has recently finished her contract playing a big role in the hit West End musical Billy Elliot.

Now the lead in a short film, ‘Our Christmas’, it was in fact Sammy’s mother, Sally Foster, who put her daughter forward for the audition.

Mrs Foster explained: “I went on a casting website and Mark Potter, the director, liked her CV.

“He’d advertised for a girl between 12 and 13 years, but I think he liked the way Sammy spoke on film.”

Shot on location around Kensington, Sammy and another young actor play two friends who sneak out to spend one last day together before Sammy’s character, Sophie, moves to New York.
