VIDEO: Chance to win collectable pottery at Horsham shop’s Moorcroft event

An expert from the pottery collectables company Moorcroft will be on hand to give advice at a special event in Horsham next month.

On Saturday June 15 from 11am to 3pm Samuel Parker in Middle Street is holding a Moorcroft day when it will have items from the new Coronation collection on display and run a prize draw for people to win some of the prized pottery.

The world-renowned brand often featured on television shows such as BBC’s Antiques Roadshow is known for its bold distinctive patterns, all hand painted at the factory in Staffordshire.

There is a waiting list of places wanting to sell Moorcroft and three years ago Samuel Parker won the right to sell it. The shop is the only place where it is available in North Sussex. In that time it has been popular with people of all ages.

Manager Mike Cockerill, who has run the shop with his wife Margaret for the past 21 years, said: “Most people would say the pieces are more then likely to go up in value, but everyone who’s bought Moorcroft from us says that it not the reason they buy it.

“They buy it because they love it and it’s in line with what they want in their house. On June 15, Moorcroft’s Joy Stephenson, who’s been with for over 20 years, will be here if people have got any questions. There will be free gifts and refreshments served as well.”

The prize draw will give people a chance to win two items from the popular Bramble Revisited collection. The first prize will be a vase worth £350, second prize will be a mug worth £175 and a book about the brand’s founder William Moorcroft is the third prize.

Mike advised Ms Stephenson will not be able to give valuations on items on the day.
