CHARITY CONCERT: Worth Abbey at 7.45pm in the Abbey Church. D’Arcy Trinkwon, acclaimed virtuoso organist, will be playing Handel, Durufle, Widor and Liszt. WARTIME DANCE: Splendid Occasions is hosting a 1940s Wartime Dance in aid of ‘Help for Heroes’ at The Barn, Causeway, Horsham. Three Penny Piece will be performing during the evening.....trio of jazz and swing singers along with Mr Tunes Vintage DJ playing music from the ’40s. ‘Everything Jumpin’ will be coming along to teach us how to jitterbug, jive and swing. WALK: Meet in the car park at Southwater Country Park (off Cripplegate Lane) at 11am. Easy, flat, circular, sociable HDC Health Walk along bridleways, lanes and the Downs Link. 2½ miles.1 hour. Pat 01403 240654.

SATURDAY

FIREWORKS: Broadbridge Heath Gala Association. Bonfire and Fireworks, starts 6.30pm with a torchlight procession through the village. This sets off from Sullington Mead (opposite the Shelly Arms). Once the procession has joined spectators on the field behind the Village Centre (in Wickhurst Lane) the bonfire is lit. This is followed by a display by Aurora Fireworks. ROOSTHOLE: Walk. Meet at 10:30am in the Forestry Commission car park on Hammerpond Road (Roosthole, east of Horsham).for a free 5 mile HDC Health Walk. Various routes (muddy in wet weather). CATS: Ghostly goings-on at Cats Protection’s Black Cat Day, National Cat Adoption Centre, Chelwood Gate, from 10am until 4pm. Admission is free but a tin of cat food will be most appreciated. Activities include a children’s fancy dress competition, face painting in the creepy cavern, tombola, raffle and kids’ games. There will be a prize for the best pumpkin . Call 01825 741 330.
